ISH is useful to anyone measuring stained tissue. It is currently being used in multiple applications including Pathology, Oncology, and Cell Biology. The applications for this routine are unlimited.
ISH extracts the following information from color images of appropriately stained tissue specimens:
- Area of Analysis Region (this can be irregularly shaped)
- Area of Non-Tissue Segment of Microscope Image (located using a monochrome threshold which is more accurate that thresholding for tissue)
- Area of Tissue Segment of Microscope Image (calculated by subtracting the non-tissue area from the total area of analysis
- region)
- Area of Prositively-Stained Tissue Segement of Microscope Image (located using color threshold)
- Optical Density of Positively-Stained
Tissue Segment of Microscope Image (extracted using Optimas' ArILIGV measurement of Inverse Log of Integrated Gray Value)
From this information the system calculates the ratio of the optical density of the positively stained tissue tot he total area tissue area.
The daat from each analysis can be saved in an EXCEL friendly tab-delimited ASCII data file with user entered information on "Slide ID", "Traetment Group", and "Field Number".
