| Skin
|
Orginally developed for a Burn Treatment Study, Skin could be applied to any sample made up of multiple layers. It would be appropriate in Geological, Sedimentation, Seismic projects, as well as CAT scan or Ultrasound applications.
Skin is a program for Optimas image analysis systems which assists in measuring and recording the thickness of the first five epidermal skin layers. The layer designations are "Epidermis", "Fibrosis", "Dermis", "Subcutaneous Fat', "and "Muscle". The layer names could be changed for different applications.
Layer thickness can be measured in a manual or semi-automatic mode. In the manual mode, the user locates layer boudaries for up to five layers choosing . The distances between these points are measured, displayed, and recorded by Skin. In the semi-automatic mode, the user designates each layer boundary with a line, and Skin then measures, displays, and records the layer thicknesses at an interval set by the user.
The layer thickness can be saved to a tab-delimited ASCII data file suitable for use with EXCEL and many other sofwtare packages.
