Leica FS M
Manual Comparison Macroscope

Leica FS M
Overview

The Leica FS M (macroscopic comparator) is designed specifically for the forensic sciences. It’s optical and mechanical performance provide the flexibility, convenience and comfort needed to make it the universal instrument of a firearms and tool mark examiner. Versatile system configurations including dual viewing accessories offer an ideal solution for simultaneous observation of evidence for training and consultation.

Brilliant Comparison Bridge

A high quality comparison bridge is the center of the Leica FS M. The bridge supports two precisely matched sets of apochromatic corrected objectives on quintuple ball-bearing nosepieces. An ingenious opto- mechanical design provides split image view, full left and right view as well as superimposed imaging of the objects. By rotating the conveniently located split-image knob, the field is continuously adjusted between viewing the left and right object. Full left or full right viewing as well as switching between all imaging modes, is achieved in less than a second.

Highest optical performance

The Leica FS M features telecentric objectives with built-in iris diaphragms to further enhance contrast and increase the depth of field. All objectives are long working, APO Macro quality for ultimate high contrast reproduction of evidence. The parfocal objectives permit quick examination of specimens under different magnifications without complicated time consuming refocusing when changing from one objective to another. The nosepiece may be rotated through 360 degree allowing the objectives to be positioned as desired. This facilitates manipulation and orientation of the evidence and precise illumination of critical details. The Leica FS M provides an always calibrated and certified scenario.
