With the introduction of MZ16 and MZ16 A, Leica Microsystems celebrates a new milestone in the world of stereomicroscopy; these two new products are targeted at the high-end life science research and industrial inspection markets that demand higher performance.

With these two new instruments comes the first stereomicroscope that provides a completely motorized workstation, setting new standards for our competition in automation and working ergonomy, and once again proving that Leica Microsystems is an innovator strictly focused on meeting the customers needs.

The world’s highest standard magnification of 115X provides a new perspective for stereomicroscopists and a zoom ratio (16:1) allows users to perform a large number of investigations, from low to high magnification without changing the objective or focus plane; saving time and increasing efficiency. Apochromatic correction provides high-fidelity color reproduction without distortion for specimens with areas of similar refractive index.

The MZ16 outfitted with the new PlanApo 2x objective yields a resolution of 840Lp/mm; a milestone in stereomicroscopy. Users can obtain a high quality, stereo image with a resolving power up to 1.19 microns.

The MZ16 offers the highest magnification available in a stereomicroscope (920x); bridging the gap between stereo and compound microscopy. The MZ16’s built-in double iris diaphragm allows for variation of the internal numerical aperture.

This means that the depth of field can be increased at each specific magnification without a reduction in field size.Through the use of the 2-position objective revolver, the MZ16 can perform observations from 7.1x to 230x without disrupting inspection. In addition, the PlanApo 1x and 2x objectives are parfocal; making this system even more efficient to use.
