Heating Workplate

For the temperature control of specimens which must be kept at a specific constant temperature next to the microscope or under the laminar air flow. For example if cell cultivation vessels must be observed sequentially the non-used vessels can be kept in the mean time at optimal conditions (37°C) next to the microscope.

Objective Heaters

To minimize the loss of heat and even to support the specimen heating an objective heater is used. It is made out of one solid piece of aluminium and has a 5mm thick ring around the objective and a small "backpack". The large ring ensures a uniform heat distribution without damaging the objective and encloses the temperature sensor. The "backpack" contains the heating elements and electronics.

Incubator S

A small size incubator with low-volume for warm air incubation and CO2-control. Warm air incubation is needed to reduce condensation at the cultivation vessel lid, which is significantly colder when it has direct contact to ambient air. Heating and CO2-control is both possible with the CTI-Controller. The transparent acrylic housing (height at observation area: 21 mm from stage) is mounted onto the Heating Insert P and is fixed by a screw. This incubation system can be mounted to and removed from the microscope very fast. Access to the specimen is possible by an opening (size 80 x 90 mm) on top of the incubator. The opening can be closed either by an acrylic glass insert or an acrylic glass insert with a glass plate (DIC observation). To retain the air composition during opening of the cover the conditioned air can be routed through an integrated bypass channel. A valve allows an easy change between operation mode and bypass mode. The incubator is compatible to the condensers S23, S40 (LMC) and S70. An integrated temperature sensor measures the actual air temperature inside the incubator and is used to control the heating device.

Incubator S-M

A small size incubator with low-volume for warm air incubation and CO2-control. Warm air incubation is needed to reduce condensation at the cultivation vessel lid, which is significantly colder when it has direct contact to ambient air. Heating and CO2-control is both possible with the CTI-Controller. The transparent acrylic housing (height at observation area: 29 mm from stage) is mounted onto one of the Heating Inserts M06-96 and is fixed by a screw. This incubation system can be mounted to and removed from the microscope very fast. Access to the specimen is possible by an opening (size 135 x 123 mm) on top of the incubator. The opening can be closed by an acrylic glass insert. To retain the air composition during opening of the cover the conditioned air can be routed through an integrated bypass channel. A valve allows an easy change between operation mode and bypass mode. The incubator is compatible to the condensers S40 (LMC) and S70. An integrated temperature sensor measures the actual air temperature inside the incubator and is used to control the heating device. When the incubator is used for CO2-control the CO2 is routed directly from the CTI-Controller 3700 digital to the incubator to get an improved CO2 distribution.

Incubator ML

A large size incubator with high-volume for warm air incubation and CO2-control. Warm air incubation is needed to reduce condensation at the cultivation vessel lid, which is significantly colder when it has direct contact to ambient air. Additional local CO2-control is possible with the CO2-Controller and specific CO2-Covers.

This incubator offers best incubation conditions, since it encases the microscope from the lamp housing to the objective nosepiece and heats up all enclosed components by heated air. No Objective Heaters are necessary. The homogeneous heat distribution offers best conditions for high resolution live cell imaging applications. The large internal volume allows the use of many different components (see Compatibility) like stages, heating inserts or micromanipulators. Compatible to all condensers.

The incubator is easy to install by just one person, no tools are required. Two large doors with hinges above the microscope stage (160 x 160 mm) are giving easy access to the specimen and other components. Two smaller sliding doors below the microscope stage (95 x 115 mm) permit the easy operation of components like objective turret or filters. Cables and tubings can be routed through the outside by two sliding doors (60 x 80 mm) at the back side of the incubator. The lamp support can be swivelled back when the incubator is mounted to the microscope. The temperature sensor can be freely positioned inside the incubator to adapt to different setups.
