Microscopes, digital imaging systems, slide scanners, and related microscopy equipment have a wide range of applications in archaeology, particularly in the examination, identification, documentation, and preservation of archaeological materials. Stereo microscopes and optical microscopes can be used to examine artifacts and samples at different scales, allowing researchers to study surface features, manufacturing marks, wear patterns, inclusions, fibers, pigments, residues, and other microscopic characteristics that may not be visible to the naked eye.
